It can be hard to decide where to go for care, especially when it could affect your health or your family’s.
Learning more about your coverage and what you’ll pay for services is a good start when you’re choosing where to go for care. That’s why our Provider Finder® tool has information about the providers and hospitals in your network and the different fees they charge for the same procedure.
Savings Made Simple
We created Provider Finder to help you make informed decisions about where to go for care. With a few simple steps, you can search for providers and facilities in your network. You can learn more about their doctors and the experiences others have had with them.
Just as important, Provider Finder lets you review cost estimates for more than 1,500 procedures, tests and labs to see if less costly options are available. The cost differences can be big.
To access Provider Finder and the Cost Estimator, log in to Blue Access for MembersSM (BAMSM). After you log in to BAM, click the Cost Estimator box on your home page to start your search. If you don’t see it there, click the Doctors and Hospitals tab. Go to Search for Providers, then Find a Doctor or Hospital and Find a Cost.
Costs can differ greatly among providers for the same procedure. This can dramatically affect how much you pay for health care. It’s a good idea to ask your provider how much they charge every time you need a test, image or procedure.
Look at this example of how much prices may differ for the same test in the same area.
You’re in Charge
It’s good to think things through in advance. When it comes to health care, knowing your options can save you time and money. Where you decide to go for care can mean a big difference in cost. Provider Finder and Cost Estimator make it easy to compare prices.
